Hi Blair,
Unfortunately, Mac users can't use Salesforce for Outlook as it is only supported for Windows users.
However, you have the option of using Lightning for Outlook. This is available for both Windows as well as Mac users.
Please see below link for more info about it.

Thanks,
Karthik

Please don't get confused with 'Lightning for Outlook' and 'Salesforce Lightning Experience'. Both are two different things. While Salesforce Lightning Experience is the new UI stuff, Lightning for Outlook is a new way you can connect to Salesforce from Outlook. You need not install anything on your PC/Mac. It works with the Exchange Server. So, there is no installable like Salesforce for Outlook. You can use this even if you stick with Salesforce Classic.
Hope it helps.

I have the same issue as Darren. I cannot get the Store button in Outlook (Mac, Exchange Server 2010 on Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise). I tried the solution of going to Excel and adding store button which I did but all the apps are related to Excel and I can't switch to Outlook apps.
Is there really no solution?

Lightning sync for Outlook used to work with bi directional sync in salesforce classic before the latest realase. Now, there is no provided solution to sync events with outlook for mac. It's very frustrating as it worked fine with classic and functionality was removed for no reason. Now, we're scrambling to find a solution that will let our classic users running macs sync events.

Jim,
Without much more details, I can only imagine that your org may have been running the grandfathered beta feature that allowed the sync of non-recurring events bidirectionally with Classic, which is getting deprecated in favor of newer technology that's gone GA now. I'd recommend that you log a case with Support to get that sorted out, maybe an admin in your org switched to the GA version.

Damien,
I think that's exactly right. I think the switch to GA version happened automatically with the new release. Still, there is no solution I'm aware of that works for outlook for Mac to sync events other than third party apps...which is probably what we'll end up doing.

I have a similar problem – I am using Outlook 2016 on Mac. The Outlook plugin isn't available for me, and I cannot install the Lightning add-in because my organisation does not allow access to the Outlook store. I can only add add-ins via URL or from a file. Is there a direct URL for the Lightning add-in that I can try?

This is incredibly frustrating. I'm not connected to the company server - I just need to be able to have lightning for outlook so I can update my SFDC records. I don't want to go through the browser. I shouldn't have to. I pay for my license - this should not be this difficult for Mac users to have the same basic capabilities PC users.

It is horribly frustrating that Salesforce continues to ignore that many of their users use Apple products. The ap used on phone and tablet works to some degree. But to not be able to integrate bi-directional email in outlook is inexcusable. To be forced to use Google is inexcusable. I am at a point where I will have to start researching other options for a CRM where I can invest my many thousands of dollars a year.

Salesforce with outlook
I've been working with a customer support rep and sadly, unless my company has their provider move all their accounts over to Exchange, I'm unable to do anything. The rep has been fantastic in trying to find a solution and follow-up. The sales calls/emails I've been getting from companies who say they can do the integration are not.
I am still stunned - and wildly disappointed - that salesforce is ignoring all their Mac customers. I too shall begin exploring other providers.
